Flat Monthly Ticketing Software — No Per-Ticket Fees

Most ticketing platforms make more money when you sell more tickets.

We don't.

Every ticket sale includes payment processing — Stripe charges standard processing fees that vary by account and region regardless of platform. That cost exists whether you use VenueVault, Eventbrite, or a spreadsheet and a cash box.

What differs is whether the ticketing company adds its own fees on top. Most do. VenueVault charges a flat monthly subscription — no per-ticket fees, no percentage of revenue, no deposit holds. Your ticket volume doesn't increase your software bill.

How Most Ticketing Platforms Make Money

The standard ticketing business model is built on taking a cut of every sale. The more tickets you sell, the more the platform earns. This creates a misalignment — the platform profits from your volume, not from delivering better software.

Per-Ticket Fees

A fixed dollar amount added to every ticket sold — typically $1–$3 per ticket. On 500 tickets, that's $500–$1,500 in platform fees alone.

Percentage of Revenue

A percentage cut of each ticket price — often 3–5% on top of payment processing. On a $40 ticket, that's an additional $1.20–$2.00 per sale.

Fee Splitting & Stacking

Some platforms split fees between buyer and seller, making the total cost less visible. Others stack service fees, facility fees, and order fees at checkout.

Reserve Holds

Platforms may hold a percentage of revenue in reserve for weeks or months before releasing it to the organizer.

Delayed Settlement

Payouts often arrive days or weeks after ticket sales, creating cash flow gaps for operators who need to pay artists, staff, and vendors.

How VenueVault Makes Money

VenueVault operates on a straightforward model: you pay a flat monthly subscription for the software. That's it. There is no per-ticket fee, no percentage of revenue, and no hidden charges tied to your sales volume.

No per-ticket fee
No revenue share
No deposit holds
Direct Stripe payouts on your account’s schedule
Bank payouts follow your Stripe account schedule

Your ticket volume doesn't increase your software bill.

Ticket revenue flows directly from buyers to your Stripe account via Stripe. VenueVault facilitates the transaction infrastructure — we don't sit between you and your money.

What This Means for Independent Venues

When your ticketing costs are fixed and predictable, you gain control over how you price tickets and structure your margins. This is especially important for independent venues operating on thin margins with weekly or bi-weekly shows.

Predictable Costs

Your software bill is the same whether you sell 50 tickets or 3,500. Budgeting becomes straightforward.

Margin Control

Without platform fees eating into every sale, you keep more of each ticket. If you sell 300 tickets at $25, that's $7,500 in gross revenue — and your software cost stays fixed at your monthly plan rate.

Flexible Pricing Structures

You can build all-in pricing where the ticket price is the final price — no surprise fees at checkout. Or add a handling fee as venue revenue. The structure is yours to decide.

Revenue as Revenue

With no per-ticket platform fees, every dollar from ticket sales belongs to you. You can add optional handling or service fees and keep them as venue revenue rather than paying them out to a platform.

Payment Processing vs Platform Fees

It's important to distinguish between payment processing and platform fees. They're not the same thing, and some ticketing companies blur this line intentionally.

Payment Processing (Stripe)

This is the cost of moving money from a buyer's card to your bank account. Stripe's processing rates vary by account and region.

This cost exists on every platform. It's not a VenueVault fee.

Platform Fees (Not VenueVault)

This is the additional charge a ticketing company adds for using their software. Per-ticket fees, service fees, revenue share — these are all platform fees.

VenueVault does not charge platform fees.

With VenueVault, the only transaction-level cost is Stripe's standard processing rate. We make this transparent because we believe venues should know exactly where every dollar goes. See our pricing page for full plan details.

Who This Model Is Built For

Flat monthly ticketing software works best for operators who run events regularly and want cost certainty. If you're selling tickets every week or every month, per-ticket fees compound quickly — and a fixed subscription eliminates that escalation.
